Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza began with a simple conviction: great pizza deserves real fire. When founder Anthony first loaded coal into a hand-built oven in Bohemia, New York, he wasn't just cooking pizza — he was reviving a tradition that dated back to the old-world pizzerias of Naples and Brooklyn.

Our coal-fired ovens reach temperatures exceeding 800°F, creating a crust that is simultaneously crispy on the outside and pillowy within — a texture no conventional oven can replicate. Every pie is kissed by coal heat, developing those beautiful char marks and deep, complex flavors that our guests have come to love and recognize.

From humble beginnings to a cornerstone of Long Island dining, here's how Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza grew into the restaurant it is today.

2003

The First Flame

Anthony opens a small, no-frills pizzeria on Veterans Memorial Highway with a single hand-built coal oven and a menu of five classic pies. Word spreads fast on Long Island — the pizza is unlike anything locals have tasted.

2007

Expanding the Menu

Demand grows and so does our kitchen. We introduce coal-roasted chicken, fresh salads, and Italian starters — broadening our appeal while staying true to our fire-forward roots.

2012

A Full Renovation

After nearly a decade, we renovate and expand the dining room, adding a second coal oven and increasing seating to accommodate our growing family of regulars and new guests alike.

2017

Online Ordering Launched

We bring the Anthony's experience to your doorstep by launching our online ordering and local delivery service, making our coal fired pizzas more accessible than ever before.

2023

20 Years of Fire

We celebrate two decades of coal fired cooking with a community event, a limited anniversary menu, and deep gratitude for every guest who has made Anthony's their pizza home over the years.
